You moved to Bratislava with a motorbike, or bought one here, and the flat came without a garage. All summer the bike stands in the street or in the courtyard under a cover, and by October you are wondering where to store a motorbike in winter so that it does not spend five months in rain, road salt and frost. That is what our motorcycle storage is for: an indoor unit that works as a small garage for the season.

Below, in order: why we put motorcycles only into indoor units, how to check the door and the room behind it, which units are free as of 30 September 2026 and what one winter costs, how to winterize a motorcycle before it goes in, and how to end the rental on time in spring.

An indoor unit, not a container

For a motorcycle we offer only our indoor units, the ones Slovaks call kobky. They are lockable rooms inside two buildings, and both buildings are kept at a comfortable temperature in summer and winter. No frost in January, and no summer sun heating the tank and the seat either, which is what happens to a bike parked under a cover in a courtyard.

The first choice is indoor units at Tomášikova 50D in Nové Mesto: the units are on the ground floor, and the car, or you on the motorbike itself, drives onto the site. The second is Holíčska 7 in Petržalka, where the units are at ground level on a terrace. Both are ours, both are open 24/7, and on 30 September 2026 there were 25 free units at Tomášikova and 19 at Holíčska.

So when people search for motorcycle storage in Bratislava or a garage for a motorbike, this is what we can offer: not a garage with a roll-up door you can ride into and turn round in, but a closed room at room temperature where the bike stands straight, locked with your own padlock.

The door decides first: 0.80 × 1.95 m

Every indoor door at both sites is 0.80 m wide and 1.95 m high. Height is rarely the problem. Width is, because the widest point of a motorcycle is usually the handlebar, the mirrors or the panniers, and all of them have to pass 0.80 m.

• Measure the widest point with the mirrors folded in and the panniers or side cases off. Many bikes that are too wide as they stand pass once those come off.
• Measure the length wheel to wheel, front tyre to rear tyre or to the end of the rear rack, whichever sticks out further.
• Write both numbers down before you open the site, so you compare them with the unit and not with a guess.

If the bike is wider than 0.80 m even with the mirrors folded and the cases off, it will not go through the door. We would rather say that here than have you find out at the site with the bike on its side stand.

Then the room from the door inwards

A motorcycle goes into the unit straight, front wheel first, and in a narrow unit it cannot turn round. What counts is therefore not the floor area but how much room there is from the door inwards. A long, narrow unit whose long side runs away from the door takes a bike that a squarer unit of the same area would not.

The unit page gives two dimensions, then the height of 2.60 m and the door. It does not tell you which of the two runs inwards from the door. That is shown by the unit plan on the location page, where you can see on which wall each door sits. Leave yourself a little room. You will want to get past the bike to lock the door, and if the unit is only just long enough you will be taking the bike out backwards every time.

Free units that suit a motorcycle, 30 September 2026

These are the indoor units free on 30 September 2026 with one side of 2.20 m or more, all with 2.60 m walls and the 0.80 × 1.95 m door. The monthly price is for a term of 1 / 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 months, and "winter" means six months on the six-month rate. Prices move with occupancy, so treat this as a snapshot; how the price is built is explained in our article on storage unit prices in Bratislava.

• H6, Holíčska, 3.48 m², 2.68 × 1.30 m: 94 / 88 / 83 / 78 / 73€ a month. Winter: 498€.
• H37, Holíčska, 2.64 m², 2.20 × 1.20 m: 96 / 91 / 86 / 80 / 75€. Winter: 516€.
• T76, Tomášikova, 3.12 m², 2.60 × 1.20 m: 103 / 98 / 93 / 88 / 83€. Winter: 558€.
• H47, Holíčska, 3.95 m², 2.55 × 1.55 m: 104 / 99 / 94 / 88 / 83€. Winter: 564€.
• T51, Tomášikova, 6.60 m², 2.20 × 3.00 m: 160 / 155 / 150 / 144 / 139€. Winter: 900€. The largest free indoor unit, with room to walk round the bike and keep the helmets, suits and cases beside it.
• T73, Tomášikova, 4.94 m², 1.30 × 3.80 m: 144 / 139 / 134 / 129 / 124€. Winter: 804€. Long, but only 1.30 m the other way, so check on the plan where the door is.

For a motor scooter or a small 125, a unit of about two metres is usually enough:

• T38, Tomášikova, 3.15 m², 2.10 × 1.50 m: 103 / 98 / 93 / 88 / 83€.
• T44, T58, T67, Tomášikova, 3.60 m², 2.00 × 1.80 m: 114 / 108 / 103 / 98 / 93€.

One thing the list shows plainly: on 30 September the cheapest unit for a motorcycle was H6 at Holíčska, not one of the two-metre units at Tomášikova. It pays to look at both sites.

Getting the bike in: Tomášikova or Holíčska

Tomášikova 50D is the easier of the two for a motorcycle. The units are on the ground floor and the car drives onto the site, so you can ride the bike in and push it the last metres to the unit. Going home afterwards, the bus 50 stop is 400 m away.

Holíčska 7 has its units at ground level on a terrace, but the car park is outside the site, and the building door opens with a personal code from your account. Before you choose Holíčska, look at the location page for the Holíčska indoor units and picture the route from the car park to your unit with the bike. Tram 3 stops at Pajštúnska, 230 m from the site.

At both sites the gate opens when you call it from the phone number registered in your account, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The sites are fenced and covered by recording cameras, and there are no staff on site: nobody takes the bike in for you, and nobody but you opens the unit. You lock it with your own padlock, and we give you a sealed one as a gift.

How long: one winter is six months

Searches for how to winterize a motorcycle peak in October, and that is when most bikes come off the road here. Riding starts again in March or April, so a season off the road is roughly six months, and the six-month rate is the natural choice. On H6 that is 83€ a month instead of 94€ for a single month.

The term starts on the day you choose. Six months from 1 October run to 31 March, which puts the bike back on the road for the first dry weekends of spring. If you want it out on a particular day, the site also lets you rent exactly to a date.

To end on time, on the last paid day by 17:00 take the bike and everything else out, remove your padlock, upload three photos in your account (two of the inside, one of the outside) and submit the return form. The deposit, one month's rent paid with the first payment, comes back within 5 working days after the handover. There is also a card subscription: the rental renews by itself every month at the price fixed when you ordered, until you cancel it in the account. It runs on monthly periods only, so it is the convenient option rather than the cheap one.

How to winterize a motorcycle before it goes in

Do this at home, in the courtyard or at your workshop before the last ride to the unit. The unit is for storing, not for working on the bike.

• Wash it and let it dry. Road salt and mud keep eating at the metal all winter, and a wet bike in a closed room is how corrosion starts.
• Lubricate the chain after the wash, when it is dry, so it does not sit for months bare.
• Take the battery out and take it home. Keep it on a maintenance charger over the winter; that is the difference between a bike that starts in March and one that needs a new battery.
• Check the tyre pressure and set it to the figure in your manual, so the tyres do not stand half-flat for six months.
• Cover it with a breathable cover. Fabric, yes. Plastic sheeting, no: condensation collects under it.
• No spare can of petrol in the unit. Our terms (point 3.3) forbid storing fuel and other petroleum products, so the can stays at home or at the workshop.

Common mistakes

1. Booking before measuring. The door is 0.80 m wide at both sites. Measure the widest point with the mirrors folded and the cases off, at home.
2. Choosing by square metres. T73 has 4.94 m², but it is only 1.30 m one way. What matters is the room from the door inwards, and the plan shows it.
3. Paying month by month for the whole winter. On H6 that is 94€ a month instead of 83€ on the six-month rate.
4. Leaving the battery in. Six months without a charger and it is flat in spring. Take it home.
5. Plastic over a wet bike. Water trapped under the sheet does more harm than the winter would have.
6. Forgetting the last paid day. If the rental is neither renewed nor handed back, the unit is cleared within 3 days after the paid period and the deposit is not returned. Put the date in your calendar when you pay.

When a different unit or term suits you better

• The bike is wider than 0.80 m even with the mirrors folded and the panniers off. Then it will not pass the door of any of our indoor units, and we cannot take it. The helmets, suits and cases still fit in a small unit.
• You ride a scooter or a 125. You do not need T51 at 150€ a month on six months. A two-metre unit such as T38 at 93€ is enough, and H6 at Holíčska was cheaper still on 30 September, if its 2.68 m runs inwards from the door.
• You ride all year. A winter-only term is not for you, but a place off the street may be. On a 12-month term the rate is the lowest: 73€ a month on H6 as of 30 September.
• You also have the gear to store. You do not need a second unit. Take one with room beside the bike, T51 or H47, and keep the helmets, suits and a set of tyres next to it.
• It is a kick scooter or an e-scooter, not a motor scooter. That needs far less room; see our article on where to store an electric scooter in winter.

How to go about it

1. Measure the bike: length wheel to wheel, and the widest point with the mirrors folded and the cases off. It must be under 0.80 m.
2. Open the Tomášikova or Holíčska location page, compare the free units and check on the unit plan that the longer dimension runs inwards from the door.
3. Choose the term: six months for the winter, exactly to a date if you want the bike back on a set day, or twelve months if the bike lives there all year.
4. Fill in your details with a phone number in international format, +421. That number opens the gate.
5. Pay by card, bank transfer or QR payment. The contract is concluded with the first payment, the access details appear in your account at once, and the whole thing takes about 10 minutes.
6. Winterize the bike at home or at the workshop: wash, dry, chain, tyre pressure, battery out.
7. Bring it in, cover it, lock the unit with your own padlock, and take the battery home to its charger.
8. In spring, renew from your account, or hand the unit back by 17:00 on the last paid day with three photos and the return form.

Where can I store a motorbike in winter if I have no garage?

In an indoor unit at Tomášikova 50D or Holíčska 7. Both buildings are kept at a comfortable temperature in summer and winter, and you have access 24/7. Containers are not what we offer for a motorcycle.

Will my motorcycle fit through the door?

Every indoor door is 0.80 × 1.95 m. Measure the widest point, usually the handlebar, mirrors or panniers, and fold or remove what you can. If the bike is still wider than 0.80 m, it will not go in.

Can I ride the motorbike right to the unit?

At Tomášikova you ride onto the site and push the bike the last metres to the unit, which is on the ground floor. At Holíčska the car park is outside the site and the building door opens with a personal code, so you push the bike from the car park.

Can I keep a can of petrol with the bike?

No. Point 3.3 of our terms forbids storing fuel and other petroleum products. The spare can stays at home, and so does the battery, on its charger.

Is my motorcycle insured in the unit?

Insurance up to 2 000€ is included. You can raise it to 5 000€ for 4.50€ a month, to 7 000€ for 7.50€ or to 10 000€ for 12€ a month.
