Cellar storage rental in Bratislava: what to rent instead | TOP SKLAD

A Bratislava flat usually comes with a cellar, a "pivnica" in the basement of the block, and it is usually damp, shared with the whole staircase, already full of somebody's tiles from 1998, or simply not part of your lease. So you search for cellar storage rental. We do not rent cellars, we rent storage units, and for most of what ends up in a basement that is the better swap.

Here is the honest comparison on what a cellar really decides: damp, who holds the key, when you can get in, insurance and price. Then sizes with real measurements, and how to order the whole thing in English.

What we rent instead of a cellar

Two types, and the difference between them settles the thing that ruins cellars.

  • Indoor units, "kobky" in Slovak: rooms inside a building that hold a comfortable temperature summer and winter. Two addresses only, our Holíčska 7 site in Petržalka and Tomášikova 50D in Nové Mesto. Smallest one free today: 0.99 m².
  • Outdoor units: converted, ventilated shipping containers from 3.5 m² to 15 m² and beyond, largest on offer 28.8 m². Unheated, not air conditioned. Inside height reaches 3 m, so you stack, and you drive up to the ground-floor ones.

A cellar beats both at one thing: it is thirty seconds from your door and costs nothing extra. So decide by what goes in, not by what sounds better. What people actually bring us is listed in what you can store at TOP SKLAD.

Damp and temperature: what a basement destroys

Mould needs a few weeks and it takes the expensive half first. Keep out of a damp cellar: winter coats, leather boots, wool, books and paperwork, photographs, upholstery, mattresses, instruments, anything with electronics inside. If seasonal clothes are the bulk of it, the preparation is in storing seasonal clothing and footwear.

Damp air is fine for the rest, which is usually most of the volume: tyres, a ladder, garden tools, camping gear, bicycles, sledges, leftover building material. Those belong in a container and it is the cheaper choice. The first list belongs indoors, at Holíčska or Tomášikova.

The reverse costs money too: a container is ventilated but unheated, warm in July and cold in January. Put the first list in one and you have repeated the damp cellar, this time with an invoice.

Who holds the key, and when you can come

A shared cellar corridor is open to everyone in the building, and keys to the old wooden partitions have been circulating for decades. Here you close the unit with your own padlock and hold the only key. A sealed padlock comes free with a new rental.

Access is 24/7, all year. The gate opens on a call from your registered number, which must be in international format starting +421, so register the number you actually carry. In your account you can add up to nine more numbers per location: a partner, a friend with a van, the movers. At Holíčska the building door takes a personal code from your account and you can regenerate it any time.

Sites are private, fenced and covered by CCTV with recording. Insurance up to 2 000 € is in the price: theft, robbery, fire, natural disaster, vandalism. Higher cover is optional, 5 000 € for 4.50 € a month, 7 000 € for 7.50 €, 10 000 € for 12 €.

The price, against a cellar that is free

Price depends on the location, the unit type, the floor, the size, how full that site is and the length of the rental. It moves with occupancy almost daily. These figures were read on 6 September 2026, and the exact sum appears before you confirm the order and in your account before a renewal. The price list starts at 25 € a month.

  • Indoor H50B, 0.99 m² at Holíčska: 38 € for one month, 34 € on 6 months, 29 € on 12.
  • Indoor T14, 2.56 m² at Tomášikova: 100 €, 89 € and 78 € for the same three terms.
  • Container D53, 3.6 m² in Dúbravka: 76 €, 65 € and 49 €.

The unflattering part: per square metre the small indoor units are the most expensive thing we rent, about 19 to 21 € per m² a month on 12 months, against 9 to 12 € for a large container. They win on the total bill, and that is the number which usually decides a cellar replacement. The full calculation sits in what a storage unit costs in Bratislava.

Add a deposit of one month's rent to the first payment. It is charged once per rental, never again at renewal, and comes back to the same card or account within 5 working days of a proper handover, up to 10 depending on your bank. All of this runs in English: the site, the order form, the contract and the invoices in your account, and support answers in English.

Not sure which size you need?

Every unit page shows the dimensions, the volume and the door size before you order.

The mistakes we see most often

  1. A container for the very things the damp cellar was ruining. Coats, books and upholstery need an indoor unit.
  2. Guessed measurements. The wardrobe will not enter H50B: door 0.80 × 1.00 m, ceiling 1.01 m. D53 has a 0.80 × 2.00 m door and 2.60 m of height.
  3. More space than the load needs. Boxes, tyres and a pram fit under 3 m², a balcony plus a cellar fits in 3 to 5 m².
  4. Twelve months while the date is still open. Start with one month at 38 € and extend, the deposit is not charged twice.
  5. A number without +421, or a washing machine packed straight out of the basement. The gate opens for nothing but the registered number, and the machine needs draining and drying first.

When you do not need an indoor unit

Not everything from a cellar needs a heated room, and the cheaper option inside our own offer is often the right one.

  • Tyres, tools, camping gear or building material only: a 3.6 m² container in Dúbravka or at Pionierska was from 49 € a month on 12 months on 6 September 2026, while the cheapest free indoor unit at Tomášikova was 78 €.
  • Everything arrives by car and you would rather not carry it: you drive up to the ground-floor containers, and some sites take a truck up to 12 m long.
  • Five boxes, not a full cellar: do not book 5 to 7 m². The 0.99 m² unit from 29 € a month on 12 months is the right size, and a small storage unit in Bratislava shows what fits into it.
  • You do not know how long this lasts: take one month and extend in the account, the new period starts the day after the last paid one. First-floor containers, reached by stairs, are also cheaper than ground-floor ones at the same site.

How to go about it

  1. Sort the cellar into two piles by the lists above: textiles, paper, electronics and upholstery to Holíčska or Tomášikova, the rest to a container.
  2. Pick the size: up to 3 m² for seasonal things, 3 to 5 m² for a balcony and a cellar together, 5 to 7 m² for a garage load. The filter runs on through 7 to 12 m² and above.
  3. Check the unit page: length, width, height, volume and door size are listed, and the largest item has to pass that door.
  4. Choose the term: 1, 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, or exactly to a date.
  5. Enter your details. Name, address, a +421 phone and an e-mail are required, we do not rent anonymously. A company is found in the business register by name and the invoices carry its IČO.
  6. Pay by card including Apple Pay and Google Pay, by transfer or by QR payment. No cash. The contract starts with the first payment, documents and access details are in your account at once, and the whole thing takes about 10 minutes.
  7. Come when it suits you, Sunday morning included: the gate opens on your call and you lock up with your own padlock.
  8. At the end, extend from the account, or by 17:00 on the last paid day empty the unit, remove the padlock, upload three photos (two inside, one outside) and submit the return form.

Frequently asked questions

Can you rent a cellar in Bratislava?

We do not rent cellars. The replacement is an indoor unit at a comfortable temperature at Holíčska 7 or Tomášikova 50D, or a ventilated container at five other sites. The smallest indoor unit is 0.99 m² and was from 29 € a month on a 12-month term on 6 September 2026.

How much does storage instead of a cellar cost?

On 6 September 2026, from 29 € a month for the 0.99 m² unit at Holíčska on 12 months, or 38 € for a single month. The 3.6 m² container in Dúbravka was 49 € on 12 months and 76 € for one. Prices move with occupancy and the list starts at 25 € a month.

Is a storage unit dry and warm like a flat?

The indoor units at Holíčska and Tomášikova hold a comfortable temperature summer and winter, so clothes, books and electronics belong there. Containers are ventilated but unheated and not air conditioned, which suits tyres, tools and building material. Insurance up to 2 000 € is included either way.

Who can get to my things?

You close the unit with your own padlock and hold the only key. The gate opens on a call from your number, and you can add up to nine further numbers per location in your account. The sites are fenced, private and filmed, and nothing alive, perishable or flammable may go in.

Can I rent a unit if I do not speak Slovak?

Yes. The site, the order, the contract and the invoices in your account are in English, and support replies in English through the account form or info@top-sklad.com within up to 5 working days, with +421 917 457 897 and WhatsApp for anything faster. Your phone number is the one thing that must follow the local pattern: international format starting +421, because it is what opens the gate.
